Today, Colby is 2 months old! Time really does fly!
New things Colby does:
- Holds his head up for about 3-5 mins at a time, truly well beyond what the "books" and pediatrician told us is standard :)
- "talks" to himself for hours! He just lays in his crib before a nap or in his car seat yappin away! Looks like Matt is in for it with two talkers :)
- falls asleep on his own (most of the time!) He doesn't really care for the pacifier except for in certain moods. He takes it when he's really sleepy and spits it out within a minute and passes out
- Smiles. All the time. And when we replay videos of him smiling and what we say to make him smile on a video, he hears it and smiles all over again
- Sleeps "through the night"! For a non-formula baby, he sleeps a bunch at night. Apparently 5 or 6 hours is "through the night" so he started doing that lately! He usually falls asleep around 10, gets up at 4 for a feeding and then sleeps until 8. It is GREAT!
-Had his first shots! He did great! Screamed for about 30 seconds, then mommy scooped him up and he fell asleep! His leg was a bit sore, but that was it! He wasn't fussy and didn't even without the "tylenol trick" beforehand (by the way, why is tylenol always on recall?)
-Flirts. He flirts with all the ladies now. I think it's the high pitched voices, but Matt likes to think he's already a ladies man. I keep telling him good luck when he's in high school haha.
2 month stats:
13 lbs 7 ounces (gained 4lbs since birth) - 90th percentile
23.5 inches (grew 2.5 inches since birth) - 77th percentile (mommy's genes are definitely evident here, not a giant so far)
Funny anectode - when we walked in to get his shots, the nurses said "oh, he is here for his 4-month shots?" (because of his size). We corrected them and they all wanted to know about his birth, etc haha.
Also, this is a nice thing that has happened to us several times. My OB, OB nurses, and Colby's doctors and nurses have all been so surprised that it is our first child, they say we seem way more comfortable than most first time parents. That makes us feel good, because I can say, we don't always feel that way!
We are enjoying this time with him, it is starting to get warmer out, so we are really loving getting out with the baby in the fresh air. Mommy loves walking him in the stroller - so fun to not be in the house in the cold weather of winter that seems to have passed us by!
Our March pics will be updated soon and on here!
