Haven't forgotten about the blog!

Well...no I have not forgotten about you blog! For so long, I couldn't get in to the site...forgotten passwords...locked out...a lot has changed!
Colby is now almost 16 months! We moved (another reason we've been MIA) to a small town about 2

hours west of dc, in the Shenandoah valley of the blue ridge mountains! I only have to commute in one day a week, so its tough...but worth it! We have a big yard for the dogs and Colby, great neighbors, and a small town (I mean small--about 500). We've enjoyed meeting local farmers and reaping all the benefits Of living in the country!
Well...on to Colby--
16 months old--26.5 lbs and 33 inches! He is a giant!! He's been walking since around 13 months, now he is running (sometimes successfully)!

He is such a ham. He makes us laugh all the time! He has been sleeping about 12 hrs a night since he was 6 monts old, so not much has changed. He gets two naps a day still from 10-12:30 and 3-5:00 and goes to bed at 8:30-8:00 am. ( have I mentioned he is the dream baby!?). I finished nursing around 13 months, so that was a big, but welcome change!
So...everything is great here in VA! I'll definitely be updating more now that I have finally gotten back in to the account!
Take care

(Eight) & 9 months old!

Colby is now 9 months old!! We can't believe it!

9 month stats:
Weight: 19 lbs 13 ounces
Length: 29 inches

Size clothes: Because of his height, he is in at least 12-18 month clothes. In many pants and romper outfits/fleece feet pjs, he is in 18 months. He is even wearing some 24 month shirts. He is so long, but only like the 40th% for weight, so he swims in a lot of the clothes, but needs the length of the size!

We realize we slacked a little on his 8 month update, but this post should provide enough photos to sink a ship... :)

New things:

At 7.5 months (on Labor DAY) - Colby began to crawl! And has not stopped! He is so quick, crawls on laps, over things, and is starting to stand on his feet and pull up on low things. Oh man, he is going to be a quick walker we think!

He still eats his homemade baby food (it's chunky now, I make it like a stew consistency) and started finger foods, He really likes egg yolk omelettes and whole wheat pancakes with applesauce! He also now eats chicken and cheese on his tray and LOVES feeding himself! Day by day, he gets more and more in his mouth and less on the tray and in the bib pocket. haha. I am still nursing, and he's having about 3 meals a day and then we make a bottle for bedtime (daddy's favorite time!)!

Oh yeah, he holds his bottle when he gets one! We don't help him, he has no problem holding it, and he takes breaks like we used to when we gave it to him! So cute! He has a sippy cup with a little water when he gets his dinner, and has no problem drinking out of it. Like pacifiers, we had to go through about 10 before we found one he liked. We did buy a nuk training sippy that had a soft silicone lid (much softer than silicone on other sippy cups) that helped the transition for him...glad they make something like that!

Still sleeping about 12 hours every night (Since 3 months old...and BELIEVE ME, we count ourselves lucky!). Always been an 8:30-8:30 baby, not going to change that anytime soon. The hours obviously work for him and they definitely work for us, so it's been wonderful.

Has two teeth! The bottom ones. The same time he got his first tooth (around 8 months), he got his first cold, and boy did that suck! He was miserable, waking up all night, couldn't keep his binky in because his nose was stuffy and he could not sleep! I felt so bad. But then his two teeth popped through, the cold went away, and we were back to the golden days!

First road trip and second wedding! We went to NJ for a good friend's wedding outside NYC and then continued to Maine to meet my beautiful new neice and Colby got to hang out and meet his cousins! He had a blast with Jackson, his 3 year old cousin. He wrestled, shared toys, took baths, and drooled all over his toys! It was so fun to see the cousins hang out. Wish we lived closer!

Just wait til you see his Halloween costume! (Hint - you know we call him "our lil stinker" heheh.

7 months old (a little late!)

7 months old!

Weight: 18.5 lbs / 28 inches.

Colby is a crazy 7 month old :)

New things:

He is almost crawling! He rocks for minutes and almost gets it...he'll get there soon!

Still a good eater! He eats all sorts of fruits, veggies, brown rice, ww pastas, and loves drinking water from his sippy! I am still nursing, and he is eating 3 big meals a day plus a bottle before he goes to bed!

He is still sleeping 8:30-8:30 every day. So amazing.

NO TEETH YET!

Sits up and rolls around everywhere!

6 months old!

Colby is 6 months old !!!

Stats: 17 lb 2 oz - 48th percentile
27.5 inches- 80th percentile!

Colby started eating solid food! He has been eating about 5 tbs of rice cereal every night for 2 months, but we just made and stored tons of homemade organic baby food for him for night too! He has had peas and carrots so far! Green beans, peaches, and sweet potatoes are next!! He loves them! We keep having the camera ready for the "gross face" picture, but he hasn't yet! He loves them!!!

Now, he has about 4 tbs of rice cereal in the morning (soon to be fruit and cereal once we start him on fruits!) And he eats about  4 oz of baby food and 3 oz of rice cereal at night! It is safe to say he is a good eater!

New things...Colby...

Colby is a belly sleeper. He goes to sleep on his back and within 10 seconds, he has flipped to his belly!

He smiles at everything! Nothing too new , just adorable!

Scoots and is beginning to start to crawl--kinda! He is up on his hands and knees a lot--and sort of rocks back and forth.

Loves remotes and phones--a possible techie-in-the making? Or perhaps he just likes the feeling on his teething gums!? We even found him a teething universal remote - so he stops drooling all over ours :)

Teething. At least the beginnings of it!

Is a pool baby! He loves it and kicks his legs like he is swimming in the water! Another water baby like me!

Things we look forward to: going on a special trip to West Virginia to visit some very special friends....

Going to a wedding in a beautiful part of Virginia in August where Colby will be hanging out with gramma and grampa Bogert while mommy and daddy attend the wedding!

More pool time!

Trying more foods!! Doctor z said Colby will likely be eating meat a month or two sooner than other babies his age b/c he has a preference for thick consistencies (he likes his food and cereal lumpy like mashed potatoes, not runny like spaghetti sauce, like normal babies) Doctor z said that that is usually a sign babies are tray or more texture and tastes! He even suggested we add things like cinnamon, mint, basil etc to his veggies to help him like adult flavors! He loves his sweet potatoes with cinnamon and peas with mint!! :)

We are ao happy and blessed with Colby!!! Happy half year buddy!
